Ahead of McPhillips’ work starting on a new £5.8m housing development for Cornovii Developments invited guests have toured the site near Oswestry and learned all about the project.
Guests, including community leaders, councillors and stakeholders, learned that work at the St Martins site will begin with the demolition of the former Ifton Heath Primary School and that 35 homes will be constructed.
The development of the brownfield site, to be known as Overton Road, will bring a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, and a range of styles including detached, semi-detached houses and bungalows. Thirteen of the homes will be affordable.
Dean Carroll, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for physical infrastructure, said: “I am delighted to see another Cornovii Homes development getting underway and knowing that another 35 sustainable homes are going to be made available to local people.”
Steve Davenport, councillor for St Martin’s, added: “Overton Road will offer a mix of house styles which means a natural community will develop around the development, from young families to people looking to downsize or seeking a home for their retirement.”

Overton Road provides local people the opportunity to get onto the property ladder. All properties are built to achieve 31% higher energy efficiency standards than an average new build home and benefit from solar panel, smart technology and increased insulation levels.
The project is set for completion in autumn 2023 and forms part of Shropshire Council’s house building programme to deliver 1,000 new homes starts in the county by 2025.
